I recently discovered a box of my eldest's old toddler clothing. My youngest has already outgrown them. Oops. I decided there were 2 options:
Donate or Upcycle
Most items were donated. A few had patterns small enough to look good on an 18 inch doll. Those items got cut up and sewn into new outfits for my daughters’ dolls.
I, once again, used the patterns I traced out of this book as the basis for the doll clothes.
My biggest tips:
1. Cut the sleeves out on the shirt side. Remove the shoulder seam with a seam ripper. Completely open the sleeve by cutting along the seam and lay flat. This leaves the largest area to cut doll sleeves from.
2. If possible, use the existing hem on pants for doll leggings. It’s faster and cleaner looking.
