Recently my OB/GYN told me that I'm doing too much, stressing myself out, and basically creating postpartum issues in the process. His recommendation went something like this:
1. Change what you're doing to get more sleep and stress less Or 2. Stop nursing the baby and get estrogen supplements. Damn. We decided on option 1. It's not without its challenges though. Things like my husband takes morning duty starting with the post 5 am nursing. My knitting business will remain in hobby mode. Writing? I struggled with putting much desired goals on the back burner. I spent weeks reading to find a way around being only mom. If you're just a mom (or a dad), don't feel less of anything because being a parent is a full time job. I absolutely need another outlet or my personality takes a turn toward Negative Town. It's an unpleasant place for me to visit but it's awful when I drag the kids and hubby there with me. But, per doctor's orders, I must change how I do things. So this year will be a series of steps to streamline and focus on my real priorities. The process has begun. I'll blog about it periodically. Not daily. Maybe a post a week--which would be an increase from before while still being manageable. I already know the first steps: downsizing, meal optioning, and focus. What are your plans for the new year? Any doctors given you a kick in the pants to change your life?
