Cloche Hat by Ruth Designs

10/26/2015

Finally got this pattern for a rainbow Cloche hat up on Craftsy.com. I've made three of the rainbow versions for us. They're a blast to make. Fairly easy--the hardest part is the first 3 rounds! Even with the kids keeping me busy I can get one done in a week.

Also made two with only a single colored yarn. Those are great. In fact, EG loves the white one with purple flowers that she got for Easter.

And, of course, I decided to put all of these under a new little business called "Ruth Designs." I've got 4 other patterns in various stages of development including a sweater. Not going to build a new website for Ruth Designs. Figure it can just hang out here until it gets big. Oh to dream!

Minion Beanie Hat

First time for everything. I published a knitting pattern for a Minion Beanie on Craftsy.com. The beanie is knitted flat and then sewn up the back. It can be made with scrap amounts of yarn in any weight (just add more strands if using a lighter weight yarn to get close to worsted weight). The ear flaps are lined. Each ear piece is knitted first followed by the main body.
The Minion eye is crocheted and added at the end. You can make more than one eye, if desired. Recommend circular knitting needles but they aren't required. (Note: pattern is knitted flat.)

Geriatrics Here I Come

My 40th birthday is on the horizon. I'm looking forward to being "over the hill" despite the fact that I don't consider 40 to be the halfway point. But here's a look at my first truly geriatric present: a daily pill container. In PURPLE! Totally excited.

Why?

Since my youngest is a whopping 3 months old, my memory is shot. I can only focus on so many things and the number is lower than pre-baby. Now I won't have to guess if I took my pills--which is pretty much what I do every day right now.

And it's purple! Who doesn't like purple? I mean other than my toddler.
